Drew Cannon?s sister was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes more than 17 years ago. Since that time, more than 17 million Americans, or about 6 percent of the population, have been diagnosed and treated for the disease. Reaching epidemic proportions, scientists have yet to determine the true cause of Diabetes Mellitus which causes a malfunction in the way that the pancreas produces insulin, a hormone that helps the body's tissue absorb glucose.

On Friday, September 10, Cannon will have the opportunity to share his dream of a cure for his sister with Triad music fans at a charity event hosted by Ziggy?s. Indecision will provide a rhythmic backdrop for these good works. As the community services representative for The Babcock Graduate School of Business, Cannon is excited to present this opportunity to raise the roof off of a popular night spot, all the while increasing awareness about the disease and raising money for a cure.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, an organization that donates as much as 80 cents per every dollar raised. Last year, triad chapters of the foundation raised over $1.1 million in their charity walks alone, earmarking the money for research that may one day discover a cure.

People who suffer from diabetes are as likely to be male or female and may suffer side effects like excessive urination, thirst, hunger, problems with fat and protein metabolism, blindness, numbness in the extremities, kidney failure, heart disease, and dental disease. Over 400,000 U.S. residents each year can expect to die as a result of complications caused by Diabetes.

Performing live, Indecision will be drawing from their most favorite influences, including The Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Santana, and Little Feat. The band, which officially began in early 1984, made their debut performance at the Mineshaft Cellar in Charlottesville, VA with members Aaron Evans and David Ibbeken on guitar and vocals, Craig Dougald on drums, Shawn McCrystal on bass, and Dan McCrystal as sound engineer. Doug Wanamaker and Chris White joined the band some years later to complete the band's unique culmination of complex rhythmic and harmonic structures.

Although the band quickly became a frontrunner in the jam band scene in the early 1990s, the group now limits their performances to just 15-20 per year. Fans of Indecision may already own one of the group's three albums, but may be surprised to learn that the group lists other rare finds such as bootleg recordings of the band with rock and roll icons Blues Traveler, Phish, and Dave Matthews.

The Charity Concert for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation with music by Indecision will begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, September 10. Tickets are $10 at the door. The event is open to members of the general public who want to raise money for a worthwhile cause. Visit www.ziggyrock.com or www.indecision.com for additional information.
