when there was nobody to suffer
these basement blues with you

Down to the depot
where people go to ride on
and where they fo it's not known for sure
Deep in the that pocket
there's a hundred dollar bill

since you locked yourself away in hell
When you called on the phone
and then left her alone

while you are drinkin'
in dirty bus stops along the way
that if you go on and keep on goin'
that there'd be someone
who'd let you stay
in a dark basement room
with a bed and a phone
so you could call her and
ask if she'd like you alone
with her head in her hand,
her feat buried in the sand
